Features of BMLinkS Printer Driver

BMLinkS Printer Driver
provides the Discovery function for searching for a
print service and then outputting documents created
by end users to the print service.
A popup window is provided for users to
easily select a print service and set up output
conditions for outputting to the print service.
If the same printer is always used for outputting
documents, users can select the "Do not display this
window the next time" check box so that the popup
window does not appear and printing can be done more
quickly.
The driver supports layout window and guides users
to understand output image easily. |

Automatic search function most suitable for
mobile use
Because BMLinkS certified devices can be searched, there is
no need to install a driver for each device in advance,
making this driver most suitable driver for mobile use.
Automatic search can also be performed before the "Print
Setup Popup" window appears.
For ease of operation, frequently used printers according to
the usage history appear on the top.
Security (Print Secret printing/SSL)*Option
■Reliably obtaining prints that users want, with support
for Print Secret printing
When a user specifies "User ID" and "Password Start Key"
from BMLinkS Printer Driver, a BMLinkS certified device does
not print the print data but save it. Once the user opens
the BMLinkS certified device's operation window to select a
document and enter the password, printing starts.
■Use of SSL to enhance security
When print data is sent from a PC to a BMLinkS certified
device, the communication path is encrypted. This prevents
information from leaking to any parties with illegal access
on the network
*Print Secret printing/SSL support is
an option. For information on certified devices with this
support, check with vendors of the respective devices.
Use of balloon to check job transmission
status

Transmission status of print data
sent from a PC can be monitored.
Because data is not printed instantly with
confidential printing, this is good when waiting for
"Transmission Complete" and then moving to the
device. Also, as it also displays aborted
transmission and cancelled printing, this makes it
possible to manage jobs easily.

The user can display a list of jobs, and then use
the "Show detail", "Cancel Printing", or "Delete"
button.
The user can perform more detailed job management
than using the balloon display.
To start this utility, select "BMLinkS Utility" from
the Start menu or double-click the Task Tray icon.
"Display Job Sent Status" and "Display Event
Notification" can be enabled or disabled.

Setup window changing
according to each vendor's printer capability
During device search, depending on the printer capability
information obtained, some items cannot be set and are
dimmed.
Use of vendor common interface improves the ease of
operation.

- If file is selected in output method, it is now
possible to specify a file name to store the data.
- If data is to be output to a file, the file
extension. BMD is used for the BMLinkS document file.
- Icon is changed.
- Other changes to improve ease of use.
